The Westcountry is, quite simply, a wonderful place in which to live and work.
It is home to some of the most stunning scenery and coastline in the British Isles. An area full of contrasts, it boasts superb beaches, historic cities and towns, delightful villages and rugged moorland, and many parts are officially designated as being areas of outstanding natural beauty.
The recreational opportunities are first class. The National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor provide panoramic vistas, and the heritage coastline of Devon and Cornwall provide many opportunities for lovers of the outdoors including cycling, hiking, swimming, sailing, surfing, canoeing, climbing and diving. Of course, you can also enjoy the countryside and beaches in a far more relaxed fashion!
But there's so much more to this area than meets the eye. Scratch a little beneath the surface and you will discover a bustling economy, two university cities, theatres, museums, art galleries and modern shopping complexes offering everything ranging from designer labels to local delicacies.
The Westcountry consistently rates as one of the best places to live in the UK, many major businesses, including the Meteorological Office, are recognising the advantages of living in the region and are choosing to relocate.
Links with the rest of the country have improved dramatically over the past years and air, road and rail links have all seen substantial investment, allowing more people to take advantage of our wonderful climate, beautiful scenery and wide-ranging leisure facilities.
The Westcountry is a great place to call home.
